UPDATE:  My offer is still in effect, but I am also willing to sell some of my extra Krana.  I've got 4 WMKK for sale for $200 a piece.  Two of them don't have a bag or certificate of authenticity, so I'll drop the price on those ones to $100.

Greetings to everyone reading this!

So where do I start?  I'm trying to finish my Krana collection and the only pieces I have yet to obtain are the two Gray Plastic Krana Kal (GPKK - pictured below) and I'm willing to pay anyone who can help me hunt them down!  Keep reading for details.

For those of you who don't know what these are, the Gray Plastic Krana-Kal were rare Prototype Krana given out to Proto Squad memebers in 2003 (pictures in this BZP news article).  Despite how some of them may look in different pictures due to bad lighting, they are NOT the Dark Gray Krana found with the Lehvak Va sets.  These Krana are made from a hard plastic vice rubber like the majority of other Krana, which is what makes them so unique and rare.

Here's a few pics of the ones I already have with good lighting so you can see the contrast between them and the normal dark gray Krana:

gpkkcakal.jpggpkkzakal.jpg

gpkkjakal.jpggpkksukal.jpg

I've been fortunate enough to find 6 out of 8 of them in just barely over 18 month's time and these last three are going to be the hardest to obtain.  I know that there were approximately 2000 Proto Squad members back in 2003 when these were given out which means these pieces are out there and many of the owners have probably forgotten about them under their bed or in their attic, ignorant to their value. So here's what I'm going to do in order to hopefully help my chances of hunting them down: I want your help obtaining these Krana.  Whether it's through the internet or perhaps someone you know in person, it doesn't matter.  If you can find someone who owns one (or more) of these 2 particular Krana, put me in touch with them (PM me with their phone number, email address, or some other means of communication) and once I work out a deal with them, I will pay you $100 USD via Paypal!  If for any reason the cash incentive doesn't interest you, I will instead give you a White Metal Krana-Kal (a $200 value) for your assistance.  And for added incentive, if you're able to put me in touch with multiple owners of the GPKK I'm seeking, I will pay you the $100/WMKK incentive for each Krana that I obtain.  So, hypothetically speaking, if you find somebody who owns both of these GPKK I still need and I'm able to close a deal with them, I will give you $200 or 2 WMKK (or a mix) just for your assistance.  Just to clarify, you only get the $100 or WMKK incentive if I'm able to work out a deal with the person you put me in touch with, but I can almost guarantee that if you can put me in touch with somebody who owns one of these, I'll make them a generous offer that will be difficult for them to decline.  As much as I would like to be able to say I'll give the incentive to anyone who can put me in touch with someone who owns a GPKK, but doesn't respond to me and we aren't able to work out a deal, I can't.  The reason for this is because if I wind up in multiple situations where I am not able to obtain the GPKK from its owner I don't want to put myself in a situation where I've run out of WMKK or money before I'm even able to obtain the pieces I'm seeking.  Now if you're reading this and you happen to be the owner of any of the GPKK that I own, you contact me directly and we work out a deal, we can slap another $100 or a WMKK on top of the price we settle on so that you get the same incentive I'm offering everyone else.

If you need further clarification on this, please post in this topic or PM me.  If you need to get in touch with me via email, my email address is listed in my BZP profile.

Hard to tell from the picture but it's worth a try.

http://m.ebay.com/itm?itemId=160948108832

This user is selling some VMKK. Idk if u already have those. http://www.bzpower.com/board/user/43601-i-exist/

I can tell from the picture that it's a Pahrak-Kal (metallic black) Krana-Kal.  Thanks for keeping your eyes peeled though!  I don't imagine that this hunt is going to be easy or quick, but I figure if I can get help from others, it'll greatly increase my chances.

Thankfully, I do have a full set of VMKK already.

They look really close to a white krana. But I won't stop until I find at least 1 GPKK for you. I used helped my little cousin find old Bionicle sets and masks he wanted so it's nothing new to me. I would be pretty sweet to get a WMKK too. I'll do the best I can and give u and leads I find.

I honestly can't see the difference between a white krana and a GPKK. How do u tell the difference?

Ok I have a potential source. Judging by the photo he has the pair of copper kanohi so he is a collector. I believe he goes by Flintsmith. The krana in the picture may be in fact a GPKK. https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/squidgeyflint/6204691524/

Any luck with those other links?

I'm really confident about that last link.

I suppose they look close to white Krana.  It's hard to get the lighting just right because you can definitely tell the difference in person.  The only difference I can really spell out is that they are slightly darker than regular Krana and are made of solid plastic.

Flintsmith is a collector and I've tried talking to him about buying any of his GPKK off of him, but he's strongly determined to complete his GPKK collection, like myself so I sadly won't be getting anything from him.

The ones in Kiba's pic are definitely the regular rubbery Lehvak Va Krana.  They only look so light in color because of the camera's flash.  I wish I could helpfully describe exactly how you can tell the difference, but I don't know how to.  I can just tell from the pic.

I'll my hardest to provide u with quality links until I can find one. Like yourself I'm a collector. getting a WMKK Xa has been a long lasting dream of mine. So I will keep on this hunt til u find the rest of the GPKK. Expect a lot of error links because it's hard to tell in my opinion. But I will find one for u. That is a promise.

I'm pretty sure this guy has one. Pretty sure it's one u already have tho. Probably gonna be the closest I can get. http://www.bzpower.com/board/user/29387-gonny/

Yeah, Gonny got a GPKK Ca from -Sidorak- when he sold his GPKK (he's who I got 2 of mine from).  I really appreciate your effort and you'll definitely get one of the WMKK if you're able to help me find a lead that works out :) .

I found this image which shows a comparison of several Krana.  The GPKK is the second from the left on the top row:

Hopefully that helps.

That image will surely help me out. I'll continue the search.

Did u check that Bricklink shop I linked u to?

Check this out found a picture while browsing the forums of a user's krana collection. Look at the bottom row of his post:

http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/13566-your-krana/?fromsearch=1

http://www.bzpower.com/board/user/111304-hachiroku/

The bottom row of hachiroku's collection are the Pearl Light Gray Krana-Kal (rubber) that came with the Kohrak-Kal (bottom left of the picture from my previous post).  The Krana from the Bricklink store is also a Kohrak-Kal Krana, I'm afraid. :(

Mask collection of a user (low quality image) http://www.bzpower.com/board/blog/1602/entry-90149-updated-mask-collection/

This is so difficult.

I'm gonna take a break from searching for a little bit. Started at 10 AM and now it's 4:30 PM. I'll check Bricklink a little more and then I scavenge Google and the BZP Forums for people who own one. This is tiring work but it WILL get done :)

Ok I'm gonna call it a night for the hardcore searching. I'll keep my eyes open and update u with any leads I have every day. How do u recommend I search Bricklink for some? When I search Bricklink, the image is just a default color so I don't know if someone mistook a GPKK for a light grey one.

Do u have like a skype or something I can message u directly with?

Pretty sure that's a Kohrak-Kal Krana too.  Don't worry, if it were easy to hunt them down, I probably would have them all already. :P  I really really appreciate your effort and don't hesitate to continue giving me links, cause you never know when it'll end up being the real thing!  Please do take a break, I really didn't expect that I would just suddenly find the last three within 24 hours of posting this topic.

Found a topic where a user knows someone that has/had a GPKK Vu. If it was already traded, I recommend contacting -Sidorak- again. Very potential lead. http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/7262-seeking-sskk-and-gpkk/?fromsearch=1

Sorry it took a couple of days to reply to this.

1) So the first link is definitely a Kohrak-Kal Krana as well.

2) Kohrak-Kal

3) Lehvak Va

4) Kohrak-Kal

5) Lehvak Va

For the Lehvak Va ones, it's difficult to tell because of the lighting and I actually wondered if the last link you gave was one, so I did contact the seller and he told me that all of the Krana in his listing were rubbery and none were solid plastic :( .  As far as differentiating between them, here's a side by side comparison of a GPKK and a regular Kohrak-Kal Krana:

GPKK                                                                                           Kohrak Kal

gpkksukal.jpg                         pearlsukal.jpg

You may notice that the Kohrak-Kal Krana has some darker lines at the top in the middle and above each eye hole.  Other than the texture of the GPKK looking a little more rough/defined, I'm not sure how else to differentiate between them in pictures, but hopefully this helps.

I'm not sure if there is one here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-Bionicle-Loose-Parts-Lot-/121404199329?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item1c444111a1

The Krana in the middle right seems lighter than the rest of the others, but it probably is just the light.

Also, I think it's funny that someone put a link of my krana collection  :)

I messaged the seller and he said that they're all rubbery. :(  Thanks for the link though!  If you see any listings that you have even the slightest hunch that they contain a GPKK, please don't hesitate to link me.

Which link was the link to your Krana collection?

Nice u got the Xa? I'll keep looking for the last 2.

No worries.  As I said, I really appreciate your effort and while these things are hard to find, I'm sure that your effort will definitely pay off.

Unfortunately I haven't made a deal for the Xa yet.  I reached out to the person who posted here, but I've yet to hear back from him. :(  Cross your fingers for me.

I saw a Za on eBay quite a while ago, but unfortunately it's been taken down. The price was a couple hundred (US) bucks.

That probably doesn't help you much, though  :shrugs:

[EDIT: Sorry, just noticed you didn't need that one. My apologies]

No worries at all.  I was actually the one who purchased that Za. :P  At this point, if anyone can help me hunt down an extra of one I already have, I'll go for that too since I might be able to use it in trade for one that I do still need.  If you see any others on eBay or Bricklink and you're able to link me, that'll count for the $100/WMKK incentive.

What's the GPKK listed as on Bricklink? The Dark Gray looks like it but it only shows a default picture.

There isn't a proper listing for the GPKK on Bricklink as far as I know and it's the same case with the VMKK.  They do show up on there though and when they do, they're usually listed as a "Custom Item".  One way to pick a GPKK out is that in most cases, the owners who are selling them are aware that the Krana are rare pieces and will usually list them for at least $70.  That's not to say that someone couldn't list one for a couple of dollars, but if they did it would be because they're not aware of it's value.

This isn't one, is it? I was browsing BrickLink and came across it.

Link

No, that's just a catalog entry for it that you can use to see all of the variations sellers have of it for sale.  You can browse the available colors through it, but there are no "light gray" entries.  Well actually there is one, which is being sold for less than a dollar.  I'll check w/ the seller and if it turns out that it is a genuine GPKK, I'll give you the incentive, but I'm not holding my breath on this one since the seller is selling it for less than $1.  Chances are if there are any GPKK on Bricklink, they're listed under "Custom Items" so they're not searchable under the keywords "Krana" or "Bionicle".
