LEGO CUUSOO Rejects Firefly Set Proposal

Firefly is not suitable for kids, unlike Indiana Jones and Lord of the Rings
Once again, the poor television series Firefly, arguably one of the best productions of the previous decade, gets smacked down by the powers that be. Disappointingly, the LEGO CUUSOO program has rejected a proposal for Firefly-themed sets, such as the Serenity spaceship. In their response, LEGO claims that "the Firefly TV show and Serenity film contain content that is not appropriate for our core target audience of children ages 6-11" - an interesting statement, given the company's long history of licensing and promoting content rated PG-13, or not suitable for kids ages 6-11. Despite the fact that parents are "strongly cautioned" against showing their kids such movies as Jurassic Park 3, the Indiana Jones series (which led to the creation of the PG-13 rating), Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, and the Lord of the Rings trilogy, all of these stories have gotten the LEGO treatment. Firefly, however, will remain in the realm of fan creations.
