While attending Brickcon this past weekend, I took advantage of the opportunity to talk to Kevin Hinkle, the bridge between the fan community and the Lego Group. In general we just chatted about Lego, Cuusoo, and random things. At one point, however, I did mention that'd I'd like some sort of official word on Bionicle's status within the company, so I asked him to say that Bionicle is never coming back, just to quell the rumours. His response?

"I can't say that."

Naturally this was a bit confusing. Of course this question came after the trick one in which I asked him to say that "the Bionicles is never coming back," just to frustrate the grammar sticklers among us. I thought it was established that Bionicle is dead and gone, but Kevin said that he cannot establish with absolute certainty that it won't be coming back someday. He did confirm that Bionicle won't be returning next year however. What do you think? Is this just another absurd rumour? Is he simply saying that he can't predict the future? Does this mean we're going to see Bionicle's return in 2014? Let the rumours commence!
