Today it's time for another Hero Factory set review. So take a break from eating turkey, and check out our thoughts on 44010 Stormer from the Brain Attack wave. Should you brave the Black Friday sales to see if you can pick him up, or is he more of a, 'order online from the couch,' kind of set? You'll have to read and watch on to find out!
Half the fun is had building the set. How fun is it to build and how easy or challenging is it?
Stormer is a basic Hero Factory build that we've seen since the introduction of the 2.0 wave. He goes together fast and there's not much exciting to see.
Now that the set is complete, we can critique how it looks from every angle. New or interesting pieces can also be examined here.
Stormer is a pretty well-designed set. The white, trans-light blue, and silver work well together and really flow. Thankfully, his back is covered by the missile launcher - unfortunately, they're flick-fire missiles. They fold out of the way though, so they're not too bad. His sword and shield/ice beam are cool and definitely add to the overall look; I appreciate that Stormer still has a hand under the shield. They also did a great job designing his helmet to match the look of the previous Stormer sets.
The other half of the fun is in playing with the set. How well does the set function and is it enjoyable to play with?
Stormer has all the normal points of articulation, plus the flip-up visor and the missile launchers. The flick-fires definitely add some playability, but we all know how well they really work. Despite those, he can still get into a lot of cool poses and is great for role-playing if you have some villains lying around. He'll also do a good job of looking awesome on your desk or shelves.
Once it's all said and done, how does the set stack up? Should I get it?
What's to like?
- Trans-light blue armor
- Covered back
- Good looking design and color scheme
- Useful parts
What's not to like?
- Boring, basic build
- Flick-fire missiles
I definitely don't regret my decision to pick up Stormer - he's a sweet set. If you can get him on sale or are looking for white pieces, definitely nab him. With the 2014 sets coming soon, you may want to wait for those if your budget is tight. If you want some instant gratification though, you won't be disappointed by Stormer.
Thanks for reading and watching everyone - I hope you enjoyed the review. Feedback and questions, of course, can go in the Talkback. Stay tuned to BZPower for more set reviews and LEGO news!
