    Toy Fair 2014: Ninjago
Hot Bionicle NewsTuesday, February 18th, 2014 at 9:34pm by Andrew, BZPower News Manager

Ninjago - the line that keeps on going, just like our Toy Fair 2014 coverage! They've gone in a new direction this year, as the ninjas face off against a cyborg army. There's a good variety among the nine sets, and definitely some things to go on your wish list. Read on to see more!

    Toy Fair 2014 Ninjago 01

    70720 Hover Hunter

    Toy Fair 2014 Ninjago 02

    79 pieces. Age 7+.
    $11.99 (USD) $15.99 (CAD)

This is a pretty simple set, as the low-price point ones usually are. More purple is always good though, and we get a Cole figure with hair!

    70721 Kai Fighter

    Toy Fair 2014 Ninjago 04

    196 pieces. Age 8+.
    $19.99 (USD) $24.99 (CAD)
    Available in January

    70722 OverBorg Attack

    Toy Fair 2014 Ninjago 03

    207 pieces. Age 8+.
    $19.99 (USD) $24.99 (CAD)

This set wasn't on display, so there's nothing to say unfortunately.

    70723 Thunder Raider

    Toy Fair 2014 Ninjago 08

    334 pieces. Age 8+.
    $29.99 (USD) $39.99 (CAD)

See our full review of the Thunder Raider right here!

    70727 X-1 Ninja Charger

Toy Fair 2014 Ninjago 05 Toy Fair 2014 Ninjago 06 Toy Fair 2014 Ninjago 07

    426 pieces. Age 8+.
    $39.99 (USD) $49.99 (CAD)
    Available in August

This set caught my eye immediately. It's a pretty sweet looking race car that has a motorcycle that pops out. I really like the styling of the car, from the sleek lines to the beefy engine. Plus you get two cyborg figures.

    70724 NinjaCopter

    Toy Fair 2014 Ninjago 09

    516 pieces. Age 8+.
    $59.99 (USD) $74.99 (CAD)
    Available in January

I definitely like the look of the copter - it's got a high-tech look that fits this year's theme. The slopes are used well, but I feel like the middle is kind of empty. You do get a good variety of minifigs though, which is good.

    70725 Nindroid MechDragon

    Toy Fair 2014 Ninjago 10

    691 pieces. Age 9+.
    $89.99 (USD) $109.99 (CAD)
    Available in January

I'm glad to see Ninjago going back to its 'roots' with a dragon set, even if this one is robotic. It looks fierce with the saw blades on its shoulders and the purple highlights are great. Plus you get a sweet dune buggy for the ninjas to use to take it on.

    70728 Battle for Ninjago City

Toy Fair 2014 Ninjago 11 Toy Fair 2014 Ninjago 12 Toy Fair 2014 Ninjago 13 Toy Fair 2014 Ninjago 14 Toy Fair 2014 Ninjago 15 Toy Fair 2014 Ninjago 16

    1,223 pieces. Age 9+.
    $119.99 (USD) $139.99 (CAD)
    Available in August

I'm not sure I would call this a city, but that doesn't make the set seem less awesome. The temple has a lot of great detailing from the rocks to the roof - I love the dragon head and the Chinese dragon design on the walls. Plus you get a zip line, not something you see every day in a LEGO set. Oh, and if that wasn't enough, you get a cyborg mech with some sweet gold insect legs. All together, it's an impressive set and deserves being the centerpiece for Ninjago this year. Finally, $120 for 1223 pieces is a darn good value.

And that's about all there is from Ninjago this year. Not a huge wave, but I'm excited to see the summer sets when they become available. Be sure to check out the rest of our Toy Fair 2014 coverage and let us know what you want to see next right here. Keep checking back on BZPower!
