    Toy Fair 2014: Marvel Superheroes
Hot Bionicle NewsWednesday, February 19th, 2014 at 5:28pm by Andrew, BZPower News Manager

LEGO continues to maintain the Marvel Superhero license, which means a whole bunch of new sets. Spiderman is the star of the line, but Captain America and some of the other Avengers make an appearance too, as well as the X-Men, which makes for a good variety. And don't forget Guardians of the Galaxy! Read on to see what's in store!

Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 01

    76014 Spider-Trike vs. Electro

Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 03

    70 pieces. Age 5+.
    $12.99 (USD) $15.99 (CAD)
    Available in March

The highlight here is the Electro minifig, who looks awesome. The trike is pretty forgettable though.

    76015 Doc Ock Truck Heist

Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 02

    237 pieces. Age 6+.
    $19.99 (USD) $24.99 (CAD)
    Available in March

This set is a definite improvement, featuring a well-done Doctor Octopus and a solid-looking armored car. It looks like a good set for the price point.

    76016 Spider-Helicopter Rescue

Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 04 Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 05

    299 pieces. Age 7+.
    $44.99 (USD) $54.99 (CAD)
    Available in March

Why does Spiderman need a helocopter? I guess so Power Man has somewhere to sit. The chopper looks cool, but I'm not sure it's $45 cool, but maybe that's just me. I do like the Green Goblin figure and the Mary Jane fig with the Spiderman shirt. That might make it enough for some to pick up.

    76017 Captain America vs. Hydra

Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 10 Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 11 Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 12

    172 pieces. Age 6+.
    $19.99 (USD) $24.99 (CAD)
    Available in March

I'm not a big fan of this set, but the minifigs of course are top notch, including the Captain, Red Skull, and what I believe is a Hydra operative. I do like the suspension of the tires, but otherwise it looks very simple.

    76018 Hulk Lab Smash

Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 06 Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 07 Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 08 Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 09

    398 pieces. Age 6+.
    $49.99 (USD) $59.99 (CAD)
    Available in March

While the lab here is well done, it's the minifigs that steal the show. You get the Hulk, Thor, Hawk, Taskmaster, and MODOK. The set is still cool though, and it looks like there's a number of play features, including a wall for Hulk to smash, of course.

    76022 X-Men vs. The Sentinel

Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 13 Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 14 Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 15 Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 16 Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 17

    336 pieces. Age 6+.
    $49.99 (USD) $59.99 (CAD)
    Available in June

This is definitely my favorite Marvel set this year; when I think X-Men, I think of the early 90s TV show, which heavily featured the Sentinels, and I'm glad to see one make an appearance here. Magneto, Wolverine, and Storm just plain rock, and the first two even come with hair pieces so you can take off their helmets. Cyclops would have been cooler had his visor been a separate piece, but he's still pretty nice. While I would have loved a larger Blackbird, this one certainly works pretty well. Finally, the Sentinel comes with a bunch of the new ball joints, purple, and multiple shades of pink - and it looks great too. An awesome set.

    76019 Marvel 1

    196 pieces. Age 6+.
    $19.99 (USD) $24.99 (CAD)
    Available in June

We were not allowed to take pictures of this set. I don't know much about the source material, but it looks cool.

    76020 Marvel 2

    433 pieces. Age 6+.
    $39.99 (USD) $49.99 (CAD)
    Available in June

Again, we couldn't take pictures of this set either. The standouts here were Groot and Rocket Raccoon, which were both great figs.

    76021 The Milano Spaceship Rescue

Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Superheroes 18

    665 pieces. Age 8+.
    $74.99 (USD) $89.99 (CAD)
    Available in June

While we couldn't take pictures of this set, LEGO did provide us with one. I won't pretend to know who the characters are, but the set looks cool. I like the integration of Technic and even some Bionicle pieces in there. I look forward to seeing more pictures.

While it's unfortunate that we couldn't take pictures of the Guardians of the Galaxy sets, the Marvel lineup this year is still pretty strong.
