Toy Fair 2014: Direct 2 Consumer
Hot Bionicle NewsThursday, February 20th, 2014 at 8:44pm by Andrew, BZPower News Manager

Sometimes LEGO makes products that it doesn't sell through its normal retail channels, and those products are called 'Direct to Consumer' or 'D2C.' They usually don't get displayed at Toy Fair, but this year LEGO decided to show off a few, including revealing the Ghostbusters Cuusoo set! It was a nice change of pace that I hope to see continue moving forward. To see what was on display, read on!

This set was revealed last month, but it was cool to be able to see it in person. I didn't take too many photos though, since I feel like the announcement covered everything. It's definitely an impressive set and would be a welcome addition to any Simpsons fan's collection.

    21019 The Eiffel Tower

    Toy Fair 2014 Direct 2 Consumer 09

    321 pieces. Age 12+.
    $34.99 (USD) $44.99 (CAD)
    Available in January

It honestly surprises me that it took LEGO this long to add the Eiffel Tower to their Architecture line. The model looks great though, and definitely captures the image of the iconic structure. I'm sure fans of the line will love it.

    Available in June

We've known this set was coming, but I don't think any of us thought it would be here so soon! It's really a sight to behold, and any child of the 80s should feel a desire to add it to their collection. In addition to all the attention to detail on the Ecto-1, the minifigs look great too! I'm sure this is going to be a hot seller come June.

In addition to some of the pictures above, LEGO also sent us the below information:

Who ya gonna call? LEGO Ghostbusters!

Celebrate 30 years of ghostbusting action by building the iconic Ghostbusters Ecto-1 car out of LEGO bricks. Selected by LEGO Cuusso members based on an original concept submitted by Brent Waller, a 3-D Environment Artist in the video game industry from Brisbane, Australia, this fun and iconic vehicle from the blockbusting '80s movie is fully loaded with all the paranormal detection equipment needed to track down those ghastly ghosts. It also features cool Ghostbusters logo decoration, removable roof, tracking computer and seats for 3 minifigures.

Set also includes a booklet containing building instructions, selected images and behind-the-scenes details about the classic Ghostbusters film. So if there's something strange in your neighborhood, strap on your proton pack and get ready to help Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler and Winston Zeddemore bust some those ghosts! Four minifigures with proton packs included.

    Ecto-1 vehicle measures over 3" (9cm) high, 7" (20cm) long and 2" (6cm) wide.

While there weren't too many sets to see here, they were all great and speak to the high quality we've come to expect from LEGO and their never-ending desire to empty our wallets. Make sure you check out their other offerings showcased in all of our Toy Fair 2014 coverage and make your voice heard to let us know what themes you want to see next. The only way to find out what it will be is to keep checking BZPower!
