LEGO Creates Brand Group, Restructures Top Brass
Hot Bionicle NewsTuesday, December 6th, 2016 at 6:56am by Andrew, BZPower News Manager

You go to sleep for one night and in the morning your favorite toy company has changed how they're laid out and who is in charge of what. Head on over to LEGO.com to read the two recent press releases: New Structure for Active Family Ownership of the LEGO Brand and Bali Padda Appointed New CEO of the LEGO Group. To summarize the changes:

    • The Kristiansen family is creating a new corporate entity, the LEGO Brand Group, which will oversee the use and development of the LEGO brand as a whole (whether through toys, education, theme parks, charities, and more)
    • Current LEGO Group CEO, Jorgen Vig Knudstorp, will lead this new group
    • Thomas Kirk Kristiansen, fourth generation owner of the LEGO Group will be the deputy chair
    • Bali Padda, current Chief Operations Officer of the LEGO Group, will take Knudstorp's spot as CEO
    • Jorgen Vig Knudstorp will also become Chairman of the Board of Directors of LEGO A/S, replacing Niels Jacobsen, who will still be Deputy Chairman of the Board for KIRKBI A/S
Corporate structure is confusing, but I'm hoping this is a sign that LEGO is not being complacent with their recent success and is continuing to look for ways to drive the brand forward and make great experiences.
