    Toy Fair 2017: Marvel Superheroes
Hot Bionicle NewsWednesday, February 22nd, 2017 at 10:42pm by Andrew, BZPower News Manager

Today we're wrapping up our coverage of the larger-than-life LEGO themes: superheroes. We saw what DC has in store for us, but now it's time to check out the other guy. Marvel has sets for three movies coming out this year: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Thor: Ragnarok (finally Thor sets!), plus some Mighty Micros and some more comic-inspired models. To get a peek at what will be appearing on store shelves, read on!

    Marvel Superheroes

Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 01

76071 Mighty Micros: Spider-Man vs. Scorpion

Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 02

    79 pieces. Age 5+
    $9.99 (USD) $12.99 (CAD)
    Available in January

The Mighty Micros are back this year and first up are everyone's favorite wall crawler and his nemesis Scorpion. Spider-Man's vehicle isn't anything special but I do like the construction of the claws for the baddie.

76072 Mighty Micros: Iron Man vs. Thanos

Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 03

    94 pieces. Age 5+
    $9.99 (USD) $12.99 (CAD)
    Available in January

The coolest thing about Iron Man here is his helmet, which is just so goofy and cute. On the other hand, Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet-mobile is awesome and is one of the best Micros in my opinion.

76073 Mighty Micros: Wolverine vs. Magneto

Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 04

    85 pieces. Age 5+
    $9.99 (USD) $12.99 (CAD)
    Available in January

I like the mini-Blackbird, and Wolverine works well in this fig style. Magneto's vehicle is a bit weak though, as is his lack of a face.

    76076 Captain America Jet Pursuit

Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 07

    160 pieces. Age 6+
    $19.99 (USD) $24.99 (CAD)
    Available in March

This set is an awesome Ms. Marvel delivery mechanism. I do wish she had normal arms too, but I love how they did her stretchiness (and it gives hope for a Reed Richards some day). It's nice to get a variation of Captain America with a bomber jacket, and his jet actually looks like a cool model. I don't know much about Super Adaptoid, but the figure design looks pretty nice.

76077 Iron Man: Detroit Steel Strikes

Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 06

    377 pieces. Age 7+
    $29.99 (USD) $39.99 (CAD)
    Available in March

This is probably my favorite Marvel set so far this year. First off, the mech is sweet and has some recolored CCBS parts. Next, even though Iron Man is there, it's a comic book version instead of yet another MCU one. Finally: Lola.

    76078 Hulk vs. Red Hulk

Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 05

    375 pieces. Age 7+
    $59.99 (USD) $69.99 (CAD)
    Available in March

The big-fig 'tax' is very apparent in this set. It has two fewer parts than the previous one and costs twice as much. I don't even think the vehicles look that good. This set is purely for the people who want the four different Hulks.

    76079 Ravager Attack

Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 08

    197 pieces. Age 6+
    $19.99 (USD) $24.99 (CAD)
    Available in March

Moving on to the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 sets, our first one is pretty small and only features Rocket out of the main crew. The ship looks okay but I'm not sold on it, personally.

    76080 Ayesha's Revenge

Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 09

    323 pieces. Age 7+
    $29.99 (USD) $39.99 (CAD)
    Available in March

The next Guardians set give us Peter Quill, baby Groot, and for the first time, Yondu. This looks to be based at around the same time as the scene we see in the trailer, where Groot runs off and hopefully doesn't blow everyone up.

76081 The Milano vs. The Abilisk

Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 10 Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 11 Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 12

    460 pieces. Age 7+
    $49.99 (USD) $64.99 (CAD)
    Available in March

The biggest set of the Guardians wave is the Milano, which is a good bit smaller than the first version we got. Still, it looks very nice, and includes all of the main characters except for Rocket, so if there's one set to pick up, it's this one.

    76082 ATM Heist Battle

Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 13 Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 14 Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 15 Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 16 Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 17 Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 18

    185 pieces. Age 6+
    $19.99 (USD) $24.99 (CAD)
    Available in June

The next movie we have sets for is Spider-Man: Homecoming. This scene is shown in the trailer, where Spidey stops some robbers wearing Avengers masks. The set itself is pretty basic, but I like all three of the figures.

    76083 Beware the Vulture

Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 19 Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 20 Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 21 Toy Fair 2017 Marvel Superheroes 22

    375 pieces. Age 7+
    $39.99 (USD) $49.99 (CAD)
    Available in June

Next, it looks like our hero will need some help from Iron Man to take down the Vulture. From what we see briefly in the trailer, the villain looks pretty accurate and I love the use of the Nexo Knight shields on the wings. The truck looks like a decent build too but nothing all that special.

    76084 Thor Ragnarok 1

    Age 7+
    $49.99 (USD) $64.99 (CAD)
    Available in August

This set was unfortunately not on display.

    76088 Thor Ragnarok 2

    Age 7+
    $59.99 (USD) $69.99 (CAD)
    Available in August

This set was unfortunately not on display.

I must admit, even though there's fewer sets overall, I like the balance that Marvel achieves versus DC. There's a good selection of sets, both from movies and based on the comics, with a good variety of different characters. There's definitely some great ones that I'll be looking to pick up over the course of the year. Tell us how you feel they stack up in the Talkback, and make sure you check out the rest of our Toy Fair coverage if you've missed anything. And you can still go vote for the themes you'd like to see us cover next!
