Toy Fair 2017: Tinkerbots

Tinkerbots is another robotic toy company that heavily emphasized LEGO compatibility. Interestingly, they have a (sturdier-feeling) clone version of Technic axles as their main shared component with LEGO, and connecting to the bottom of bricks requires an adaptor element with a 5-stud square footprint. Fortunately, this platform doesn't rely on that unusual approach to compatibility - it's essentially a robust, kid-friendly, shield-and-soldering-free way to get kids quickly building robots with ready-made components programmed through either custom apps or the Arduino IDE. They weren't available in the US yet when we saw this colorful booth (pictured below) at Toy Fair, but the kits and parts are now available through their website.
