The Oriole Takes Flight
Living in the Baltimore area, you hear a lot about the Orioles (most of it negative this year). I was curious, then, when I saw a MOC named the B-01 Oriole
in our System-Based Creations forum. It turned out to be an awesome little spaceship by The Puppeteer with a simple, smooth shape that, in flight mode, could almost be called birdlike. I enjoy the clean orange and grey color scheme and the studs going in every which direction - SNOT at its finest. If you like looking at unique ships with some great design then you should definitely go check out the Oriole.
Nathan Sawaya's LEGO Batmobile Revealed
At San Diego Comic Con, LEGO Certified Professional Nathan Sawaya and DC Comics artist Jim Lee brainstormed with an audience on a new design for the Batmobile. Now Sawaya has built that sketch and will debut this new 18-foot long LEGO Batmobile at "The Art of Brick: DC Comics" exhibition with other DC Comics' sculptures. Entertainment Weekly
interviewed Sawaya, who called it "a dream project," and posed with the sculpture. The exhibit premiers in Sydney, Australia, at the Powerhouse Museum
in November, and can be expected to make its way around the globe. As always, send BZPower any photos you take when you visit.
Twitch Tuesday Tonight
After an unfortunate attempt to stream LEGO Dimensions last week (I'm still waiting for a replacement Gandalf Toy Tag) it's time to return to our regularly-scheduled Twitch Tuesday, on a Tuesday. If you'd like to help us pick what game we're going to play, head over to the poll in General Discussion
and cast your vote. Then, tonight at around 7:30 PM Eastern, head over to our Twitch channel
to watch us play. You can follow us on Twitch to find out exactly when we go live or follow us on Twitter
where we'll share that info as well. I'm looking forward to actually playing a game this week and chatting with everyone on the stream!
My replacement Gandalf Toy Tag came today, so we'll be taking a look at LEGO Dimensions tonight! See you in about an hour!

Bionicle Episode 18 Released
While it doesn't look like it's up on the official LEGO Website yet, you can head over to YouTube to watch LEGO Bionicle - Episode 18 - The Mask of Creation
right now! Things are looking pretty dark for the Toa and Ekimu - is there a light at the end of the tunnel? You'll have to go watch to find out!
LEGO Doctor Who Set Revealed
Over on the LEGO Ideas blog, Sara Moore has revealed 21304 Doctor Who
, the latest set in the series and one that's sure to be popular among FOLs and Whovians alike. The set includes Doctors Eleven and Twelve, Clara, two Daleks, and a Weeping Angel, as well as the iconic TARDIS and its bigger-on-the-inside control room. The set will be available on December 1st and will retail for $59.99. I'm sure it's going to be on a lot of people's wishlists this winter!
Our YouTube series Bfa Plays is expanding today with a new game for everyone to watch. In addition to monthly installments of LEGO Racers gameplay, Blog Assistant Bfahome will now be going though Bionicle The Game and providing a running commentary. You can watch the first episode over on our YouTube channel
or by reading on and then let us know what you think in the discussion topic
. New episodes will be posted on the fifth of every month, so you'll have to come back to find out what happens next!
LEGO Bionicle: Gathering of the Toa
Gets a Cover
The Amazon.com listing for LEGO Bionicle: Gathering of the Toa
, the first G2 graphic novel, has been updated with the book's final cover design featuring an illustration of Tahu, Gali, and Onua. The story is written by Ryder Windham and is due for release on December 29 of this year, the same day as the second G2 chapter book Revenge of the Skull Spiders
(which is still listed with a preliminary cover). Follow the links above to see the listings!
It's Bigger on the Inside
Yesterday we got a sneak peek at the outside of the TARDIS from the upcoming Doctor Who LEGO Ideas set. Today we're getting a look at the inside via the LEGO Ideas
and LEGO Group
Twitter accounts. The main console and the core are modeled after the current TARDIS, which makes sense, but I'm sure once the set comes out people will be creating their own versions for each of the Doctors. I'm looking forward to more teasers and the eventual set reveal!

Nautilus Rises from the Depths to Achieve Goal
Another project has recently achieved ten thousand votes of support on LEGO Ideas. This time it's 20,000 Leagues under the Sea NAUTILUS
by OrionPax, based on the ship from the well-known Walt Disney movie. The model looks pretty amazing with some awesome building techniques. It's a bit on the large side though, so even with the licensing agreement in place between Disney and LEGO, I'm not sure this will appear on store shelves. We wish it the best of luck though!
LEGO Ideas Teases Doctor Who Set
The official LEGO Ideas and LEGO Twitter accounts have tweeted
a teaser for the upcoming LEGO Ideas Doctor Who set, landing soon in a space-time continuum near you. There is really not much to say here as the teaser speaks for itself and should please Time Lords and fans of the Doctor alike. If I had to guess I'd say there's going to be more information within the next two weeks and a release of the set in November or December. Stay tuned for updates.

#BionicleMaskMaker Contest Beginning October 12th
A very observant BZPower member has noticed that the official BIONICLE Facebook page contains a section called "Competition T&Cs" that contains Terms and Conditions for a building contest titled #BionicleMaskMaker beginning October 12th and ending October 31st. Goal of the contest is to build a BIONICLE mask out of constraction and technic pieces. The prize would be none other than the 14 karat Mask of Creation. The entries will be judged by overall creativity, construction and color scheme and multiple entries per person are possible. Check out the official rules here
and get building!
Jurassic Park Explorer Reaches Goal
LEGO Ideas member senteosan continues to ride the popularity of Jurassic World and has had another project meet the ten thousand votes of support requirement. Instead of a dinosaur, this time around it's the Jurassic Park Explorer (with minifigs)
, the iconic SUV from the first movie that was meant to give people tours of the park but turned out to be better at holding people like sardines in a can for the T. rex. The model captures the look quite well and features minifigures of Ian Malcolm, Alan Grant, and Ellie Sattler. This is probably something I'd pick up if it made it through the review process, so I wish it the best of luck!
LEGO Worlds Update 3 Teaser
There's been a new post
made on the LEGO Worlds developer blog by TT Games' Chris Rose with some screenshots for the upcoming Update 3 for LEGO Worlds. It looks like the Skydome is going to be the next big feature added, bringing day and night to players of the game with some cool graphics and effects. If you've been playing LEGO Worlds, let us know what you think of this in the Talkback and how you've been enjoying the game in general.

Month of Jungle Begins on LEGO Bionicle Facebook Page
The LEGO Bionicle Facebook page has declared October the Month of Jungle
, and in accordance with that announcement they've revealed a new banner image by Matt Betteker focusing on Lewa in the Region of Jungle. Also, although it's come a little bit late, they've shared a display model of Pohatu
by LEGO City designer Corvin Stichert (BZPower member Vezok's Friend) to correspond with September's Month of Stone. Follow the links above to check out these two creations in more detail, and keep following the page for additional updates!
Download the LEGO Dimensions App
If you've been playing LEGO Dimensions whenever you're home like I wish I was (still waiting for a replacement Toy Tag for Gandalf), and think about playing it whenever you're not at home then you're in luck. You can head over to the Google Play Store and download the LEGO Dimensions app
on your Android phone or tablet (I'm assuming there will be an iOS version soon). The app allows you to create a wishlist of all the packs you want, keep track of the ones you have, watch videos to learn about the game and characters, and more. There's even badges you can unlock and exclusive wallpapers to be earned. It's a fun little companion for the game when you're not in front of your television.
Brickipedia Kicks Off their Halloween Contest
If you've ever tried searching for some obscure fact about LEGO chances are that you've ended up at Brickipedia at some point. But did you know they have a thriving community behind all those wiki pages? To celebrate the spookiest month of the year they recently kicked off a Halloween contest
that seems to be a game of riddles mixed with a scavenger hunt. It's easy to enter and win and there are some great Bionicle, Ninjago, and Scooby Doo sets up for grabs for the top three participants. What are you waiting for - go check it out!

More Details on LEGO Bionicle and LEGO Friends Netflix Series
Netflix has issued a press release
for their new kids' series, including descriptions and teaser images for their LEGO Bionicle and LEGO Friends series. Each series' first season will be four episodes long. LEGO Bionicle: The Journey to One
launches in the first quarter of 2016, and LEGO Friends: The Power of Friendship

Netflix Teases Two Original LEGO Shows
Yesterday we shared
a link to Netflix for a listing titled, 'LEGO BIONICLE: The Journey to One,' but didn't have much more information beyond that. Today, Netflix has made the following tweet
Currently under construction: Two new Netflix originals for kids from the world of @LEGO_Group! Coming in 2016.
The image shows the Protectors of Fire and Earth as well as a couple of Friends minidolls, so it looks like we're getting a brand new Bionicle series that will be direct-to-Netflix as well as one for Friends! I'm sure we're all looking forward to learning more as it comes out!
Scholastic LEGO Books to Continue And Expand Through 2019
Scholastic, the U.S.-based publisher of many LEGO books over the years, has issued a press release
announcing that they have reached an agreement to continue publishing books based on various LEGO play themes through 2019. They will also be publishing new categories of LEGO books, such as non-fiction books using LEGO to explore science- and history-related subjects and a LEGO pop-up book by celebrated pop-up book creator Matthew Reinhart
. Readers who love LEGO clearly have a lot to look forward to in the years to come!

Australian LEGO Club Magazine Teases New LEGO Nexo Knights Theme
Brickset has shared a scan of a new full-page teaser
for LEGO Nexo Knights appearing in the latest issue of LEGO Club Magazine in Australia. LEGO Nexo Knights is a "big bang" theme (a major homegrown story- and media-driven theme like Atlantis, Ninjago, or Legends of Chima) coming out in January 2016 that combines sci-fi and medieval fantasy elements. Follow the link above for Brickset's report, then share your thoughts on this new theme in the Talkback topic!
October 2015 Double VIP Points
If you've been a part of LEGO's VIP Program for the last few years, you'll know that they run a double points promotion in October. This year, the promotion is running from October 1st to October 14th. (The store calendars originally only had the promotion for four days, but it's been extended.) You can use the double points to get such sets as the newly released sixth wave of Mixels
or the new LEGO Dimensions packs.
You can take advantage of these deals both online and in LEGO Stores.
Wednesday, September 30, 2015
It's time for another BZPower Set Review, and this time BZPower Reporter Xccj takes a look at the second motorcycle, 70730 Chain Cycle Ambush. Should you go speeding out to grab this model, or just let the pieces rest on the store shelves? Read on or watch the video to find out!

LEGO BIONICLE: The Journey to One on Netflix
A mysterious listing has appeared on Netflix: Titled LEGO BIONICLE: The Journey to One
, there isn't much to see yet apart from the description: "Six legendary heroes find themselves on an epic quest as they harness the power of nature's elements to defeat the forces of evil." My guess is that this is going to be relevant for next year (the page seems to be of rather preliminary character) so it's going to be a few months before we get to see actual content but the fact that the listing exists at all is already great news and raises a lot of questions. Looks like BIONICLE is proving to be successful enough for LEGO to make its first venture into modern streaming channels. Stay tuned for updates.
First International LEGO News Show Episode Released on LEGO.com!
The official LEGO Club website has shared the first English-language episode
of the LEGO News Show! In this four-and-a-half minute episode, LEGO News Show anchors Dan Brickman and Helen Stone meet with LEGO Club mascot Max and the LEGO City Demolition team, plus debut a new (yet still unmistakably familiar) invention by the show's scientific advisor Professor Egghead. Follow the link above to check it out!
Microsoft Releases Xbox One "The LEGO Movie Videogame" Bundle
Microsoft has just released an Xbox One bundle containing the standard 500 GB Xbox One (without Kinect) and The LEGO Movie Videogame in one package for USD 349, which is not too bad a deal considering the console alone costs the same. If you've been looking to get a new console or to replace your old Xbox 360, this bundle may be worth your money. Check it out (literally?) in the Microsoft Store
LEGO Star Wars Retrospective Continues
Christian Faber is at it again, sharing some more intriguing information about the original development of LEGO Star Wars. Head over to the Faber Files to check out Flashback - The LEGO and Star Wars collaboration - part 4
, where he talks about the final packaging design and the reasoning for some of the choices. It's interesting to see how things most people take for granted, like the black bars simulating the widescreen aspect ratio of the movies, add that sense of connection to the sets. And getting to work with original Star Wars assets seems awesome and a huge honor!

BrickCon 2015 This Weekend
It's the first weekend of October, and that means it's time for another BrickCon
LEGO Convention in Seattle, Washington. BrickCon is one of the longest running LEGO Conventions, and this year it is still located at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall, right next to the Space Needle. The public hours are 10 AM to 4 PM Saturday, October 3rd, and 9 AM to 3 PM Sunday, October 4th. If you're in the area, stop by and check out the displays, including some Bionicle MOCs. Hope to see you there!
Legends of Metru Nui Deleted Scene Discovered
BZPower Member TheSkeletonMan939 recently came across
some videos that Roy Braverman, a sound designer for the first three Bionicle films, has posted online. The clips are from Legends of Metru Nui and feature just the sound effects; it's interesting to watch them without the music and dialog. The thing most people will care about though is that one of the videos features a shot that never actually made it into the film - the Coliseum crumbling during Vakama's vision. Go check it out and join the discussion. It's great to see stuff like this being uncovered after over a decade!
LEGO Brings Home the Bacon with New LEGO Angry Birds Teaser
The official LEGO Facebook page has shared a new teaser image
of one of the Bad Piggies from next year's The Angry Birds Movie
sets. The pig in question looks as though he's about to chow down on a stolen egg. But if you look closely at the foreground you can spot a glimpse the film's eponymous birds looming... and they look pretty angry! Follow the link above to see the new teaser, and then share your thoughts in the Talkback topic!
LEGO Games on Sale for Xbox
Xbox Live's Major Nelson has posted this week's Deals With Gold And Spotlight Sale

On Xbox One we've got LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham and the Deluxe Edition, LEGO Jurassic World, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, LEGO the Hobbit, and The LEGO Movie Videogame. For the 360, there's LEGO Batman 1, 2, and 3, LEGO Jurassic World, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, and The LEGO Movie Videogame. Discounts range from 20% off to 67% off and vary by region. The LEGO Dimensions starter pack and wave one expansion packs are now available for purchase from the LEGO website in several countries including the United States
, Great Britain
, and France
, among others. LEGO Customer Service has also uploaded building instructions

This is a handy asset for anybody who is interested in buying the expansion packs before or instead of the starter pack!
Twitch Tuesday... on a Monday
LEGO Dimensions released in the US yesterday, and my copy should be arriving later today. As a result, we're mixing things up a little bit this week and instead of streaming tomorrow, we'll be sharing our first look at LEGO Dimensions this evening. LEGO Dimensions Released with Initial Expansion Packs
Today marks the release of the latest LEGO video game by TT Games: LEGO Dimensions. As something being anticipated since April
, getting the chance to have your favorite LEGO characters (and some new ones) interact with one another sounds exciting. The $100 Starter Pack will give you everything for the main game, but the $15-$30 character packs will yield even more fun with levels and character shenanigans. There are even some deals at a few stores, most notably Toys R Us' deal of a $10 gift card with a $35 Dimensions purchase. If you ask nicely they might allow multiple uses of this deal (and don't forget about Bricktober
). Members of Best Buy's Gamer's Club can make use of their membership, and there is always LEGO's own VIP Program. However you buy it, it's been one of the biggest games of the year so far, so we can only hope for the best.
Former Bionicle comic artist Pop Mhan was at Baltimore Comic Con on Saturday, September 26, getting lots of attention at his booth on the show floor. Known for his work penciling the Glatorian arc for the Bionicle story, he fondly remembers that era of his career. Former Staff member 55555 tipped Reporter ChocolateFrogs to his attendance, and Mhan was kind enough to give a short interview for us fans. Read on for a little bit of Bionicle Gen 1 nostalgia.

It's time to jump back in to the BZPower set reviews. Today we're returning to the Speed Champions theme, which we visited earlier this year, to look at 75909 McLaren P1
, one of the smaller, car-only sets in the line. Is this supercar a super-good buy, or is it a lemon you should leave on the lot? Check out our text and video reviews to find out!

LEGO News Show Coming Soon to the English-Speaking World!
German-speaking LEGO fans might already be familiar with The LEGO News Show
, a CGI video series that began in 2013 and starred news reporters Dan Brickman and Helen Stone. Today, LEGO released a new video
announcing that the series will soon be released in English as a monthly series on their YouTube channel! Presumably it will start fresh with current LEGO news stories rather than rewind to the start
of the series which covered stories like the LEGO Movie trailer and the life-size LEGO X-Wing from Times Square. But in any case, it gives English-speaking LEGO fans one more thing to look forward to each month!
The Toa Mata Band Reunites
Remember, if you will, back before we knew Bionicle was coming back, when Guiseppe Acito took an Arduino, some synthesizers, and some old Bionicle sets to make the Toa Mata Band
. It turns out that he's still making music using these decade-old LEGO sets and the fourth episode was recently recently uploaded to YouTube
. It's really cool and impressive to see these classic sets being used to make music in such a creative way. Just goes to show how inspiring LEGO can be!
LEGO Dimensions Website Receives Major Update
The official LEGO Dimensions website
on LEGO.com has received a huge update in anticipation of the game's official release this weekend. The Product
pages includes descriptions and video of each LEGO Dimension pack's in-game abilities and effects, plus pictures of the different modes for the different builds of each pack's vehicles and accessories. The How to Play
pages compile many of the teaser videos we've seen explaining the game's features. And the Support
page answers ten frequently asked questions about the game. Follow the links above to explore the new site and see what LEGO Dimensions has in store!

New LEGO Worlds Dev Diary
Over on Steam, Toby from TT Games has posted a new developer diary for the early-access game LEGO Worlds. Dev Diary: Tools (Concept)
takes a look at the tools players use to build and manipulate the environment and how they've changed over time. It's an interesting read to see how the team has tackled a problem that many other LEGO games have tried to address over the years. If you're interested in what goes on behind the scenes to make an open-world game like this, give it a read!
WALL-E Available on S@H
After some reported quality issues, the latest LEGO Ideas set is finally available via LEGO Shop@Home in North America. Head on over and pick up 21303 WALL-E
for $59.99 in the US or $69.99 in Canada - it will hopefully be appearing in brick-and-mortar LEGO stores soon if it hasn't already. If you're not sure if this set is for you (hint: it is), check out our review
of this adorable little Pixar robot.

Unikitty Gets the LEGO Dimensions Experience
Continuing the series of actors diving into the LEGO Dimensions building experience, Unikitty voice actor Allison Brie is the latest star to receive a mysterious Dimensions building kit. The newest video
, via Yahoo!, is quite privy to their commonalities, and soon Brie is channeling her inner Unikitty. Sure enough, game play is shown of Unikitty genre-bending through all kinds of levels, continuing to show various elements of the game. Check out all the cuteness of the video yourself! LEGO Dimensions drops this coming Sunday, September 27, with numerous character packs accommodating it.
A Great Way to Lose Your Studs
Have you ever wanted to send thirty-six 1x1 round plates shooting across the room in the blink of an eye? If so, BZPower Nescent has you covered with his 36-Barrel Gatling Cannon
. Designed as a stationary turret big enough for a Protector to sit in, the cannon uses some clever gearing to fire six of the new six-shooters at once. The ingenuity here is brilliant, as are the turret base and custom Protector that go along with it. I certainly don't want to deal with reloading it after its been fired though, I can feel my thumbs hurting already!
Twitch Tuesday Tonight
Twitch Tuesday returns tonight, where we'll be playing a LEGO game for you all to watch over on the BZPower Twitch Channel

Ryder Windham Talks BIONICLE 2015
Ryder Windham, author of this year's BIONICLE books, has recently answered a few questions from members of German BIONICLE fan site "Der Chronist", ranging from questions about his job to questions about BIONICLE itself. Of course, there are no new story reveals in this interview but there are some interesting little pieces of trivia, e.g. how Korgot, Protector of Earth, came to be female (I didn't even know that) and how Ryder came up with the Protectors' names. You can read the short interview here
