Voting For C. I. R. C. L. E. Article 21b & 39-42

Confederated Inter-Related Collaborative League of Epics

Once again I'd like to welcome everyone, now straight to more business.

The yet again revised twenty-first article proposed by RingMaster Zee, Toa Zahaku, & Ballom is as follows:

Ballom hereby proposes that a small population of Makuta managed to survive Teridax's slaughter of their species inadvertently. They were in fact actually retreating from the Order of Mata Nui's assault on the Isle of Destral when they fled into the "Zone of Darkness" with the aid of a prototypical weapon known as the "Dark Portal Cannon". There they remained, beyond the scope of the Great Spirit Mata Nui, for an undetermined length of time before returning to "The C.I.R.C.L.E. Universe", again with the aid of the "Dark Portal Cannon", yet without knowledge that their leader's plan had succeeded, nor of his betrayal of their brethren.

Now, feel free to discuss this proposal in this thread and then vote.

All in favor vote "AYE".

All opposed vote "NAY".

The thirty-ninth article proposed by RingMaster Zee is as follows:

RingMaster Zee hereby proposes that the "Dark Portal Cannon", be considered a one-of-a-kind object in "The C.I.R.C.L.E. Universe". This prototypical weapon was forged in the Brotherhood of Makuta's secret skunkworks, beneath the Isle of Destral, during the Dark Hunter War, and was intended to be a means of eliminating vast numbers of Dark Hunters.

Its' large central cannon fired bursts of shadow energy that upon striking their target open voids into the "Zone of Darkness", sucking the unfortunate beings inside, where they are at the mercy of the monstrous contents of the shadowy area beyond. In addition to the moveable central cannon, it boasts four powerful missile launchers and five sub-machine guns located in a ring around the main turret. Five large docking claws secure the unit and also protecte the cannon when retracted. The entire apparatus is about the size of a Toa, and is mounted on a rotating base on the floor, making it capable of being moved to various arms installations.

After "The Shadowed One" and his legions attacked the facility, the Makuta engineers abandoned the project, leaving the fully functional prototype to gather dust. There it remained until the fateful day the Order of Mata Nui attacked the Makuta Stronghold, forcing the few remaining survivors to retreat deep within the bowels of island, at which time the "Dark Portal Cannon" became their only means of escape.

Now, feel free to discuss this proposal in this thread and then vote.

All in favor vote "AYE".

All opposed vote "NAY".

The fortieth article proposed by Ballom is as follows:

Ballom hereby proposes that within "The C.I.R.C.L.E. Universe" that not all subspecies of Visorak, including but not limited to the children of Gorgorak on the Isle of Terra Nui, were affected by "Heart of the Visorak", and thus many escaped destruction and are still widespread throughout "The C.I.R.C.L.E. Universe".

Now, feel free to discuss this proposal in this thread and then vote.

All in favor vote "AYE".

All opposed vote "NAY".

The forty-first article proposed by Toa_Ausar is as follows:

Toa_Ausar hereby proposes that within "The C.I.R.C.L.E. Universe" several of each known subspecies of Visorak survived destruction, along with a small population of Makuta within "Zone of Darkness", after having been trapped there as a result of being test subjects during the early developmental stages of the prototypical weapon known as the "Dark Portal Cannon", and thus eventually returned to "The C.I.R.C.L.E. Universe" along with the aforementioned surviving Makuta.

Now, feel free to discuss this proposal in this thread and then vote.

All in favor vote "AYE".

All opposed vote "NAY".

The forty-second article proposed by RingMaster Zee is as follows:

RingMaster Zee hereby proposes that within "The C.I.R.C.L.E. Universe" there are Kanohi known as Cryalis (KRIGH-uh-liss), the Great Mask of Elemental Conversion, which allow the user to temporarily transform into a single aspect of their Element.

Examples would be a Toa of Lightning briefly becoming a "lightning bolt" or a Toa of Ice momentarily turning into "hail".

Now, feel free to discuss this proposal in this thread and then vote.

All in favor vote "AYE".

All opposed vote "NAY".

And with that said, I open this thread up for discussion on the various articles for the proposed enhancement of our joint storyline.

Please be sure to vote on all five articles in this thread.

Also, note that this discussion and the corresponding voting will end at 1200 PST (Noon in the Pacific Time Zone) on Monday, March 23rd, 2009 provided that at least 2/3 of C.I.R.C.L.E. Members have voted at that point.

Lastly, the C.I.R.C.L.E. Members will now be notified of the results via the C.I.R.C.L.E. Results Overview & Discussion thread, however, when there are other blog threads where authors can vote on the proposals surrounding the details of C.I.R.C.L.E., that communication will still happen via PM, just as it always has. ;)

Thanks.

UPDATE: Article 21b has passed via "UNANIMOUS DECISION", also

Articles 39, 40, & 41 have all passed via "UNANIMOUS DECISION", meanwhile

Article 42 failed to pass due to a "VETO" and the polls are now closed.

Well, your point about Adventures #7 doesn't apply here because that's not what RingMaster Zee said the Kanohi Cryalis does, rather that's what Kohila suggested it might do.

In actuality the article states that the user temporarily transforms into a single aspect of their Element, and there is no mention of that aspect being a sentient entity anywhere in the proposal, none whatsoever.

But wouldn't becoming their Element be considered an aspect of their Element?

To be honest, the mask power is great, but the Article's wording, not so much.

But toa talvak, Greg F has said before that the only thing that can create life is the ignika or a being cursed by the ignika and creating plantlife is creating life isnt it?

Like GregF might say, that's nitpicking.

It is a good mask power but the thing is how does it work with elements such as rahi control. How can you turn into rahi-control or a physical being made of rahi control?, it doesnt make sense. The Mask just couldnt work with said element and if it doesnt work with all Toa then why have it?

Also to further my argument, what exactly would happen if a non-element associated being like, say Brutaka put it on? Really why have a mask that only works with some types of Toa but not other toa and non-toa who can use Kanohi.

Ausar, I pmed Zee about it but i havent got a reply yet

In addition to Toa Zahaku's brilliant comment regarding Brutaka, here's another trump card:

  • What would happen if a Toa of the non-canon element of Energy (i.e. Kinetics) put on a Kanohi Cryalis?

Certainly Kinetic Energy is a force of nature that can be created (just wave your hand around) and absorbed (now smack yourself and tell me where the energy went), so it fits all the requirements that Toa Talvak set forth of what an element must be.Anyway, I could come up with several more non-canon Elements that fit the mold but don't work with the Kanohi in question, such as Thought, Anger, Fear, etc.

Well, you've all been able to change my mind enough to where the idea of the Kanohi Cryalis is impractical, therefore I too will vote "NAY"; my first post will be edited accordingly. ;)

Toa Zahaku

Brutaka couldn't use its power. Why would he wear a mask he couldn't use? Why have Great and Noble masks if Matoran can't use their powers? Why have Kanohi if Skakdi can't use them? Why have the Vahi or Ignika if no one can't fully wield them? All because a being can't use the mask doesn't mean the mask shouldn't be made. Your point is moot.

A Toa of Energy would temporary become pure energy. What kind or "aspect" of energy he transforms into is left to the Toa's imagination. (One possiblity for Kinetics could be something like Vezok's impact vision)

Thought, Mind Reading, Rahi Control, and Insect Control all are psychic abilities, right? Why have Elements, especially Thought and Mind Reading, that are so similar? Why not just group them into one Element called Telepathy or Psychics?

I realize Light, Fire, and Plasma share similar abilities, but each is more capable its own respect. A Toa of Rahi Control or Insect Control could more easily control Rahi or Insects, respectively, but neither creates anything. By my requirements, they can't be Elements, only powers.

Anger and Fear, though possible Elements, wouldn't naturally wielded by a Toa for the same reason as Shadow, they are inherently evil. They're not called negative emotions for nothing, you know. ;)

Toa Talvak:

.Matoran were made not to be able to use Kanohi powers so that point is moot

.Some speices like Skakdi dont have the mental dicipline to use kanohi so that point is moot

.The Ignika was made for one purpose, for a destined toa could reawaken or bring back mata-nui from death, not so some power mad being could trot around the place using it at will so that point is moot

.The Vahi is just a really powerful mask that could destroy the matoran universe that was put into bionicle for story purposes and even if someone did possess the element of time, chances are that it would hard to control as well.

So basically all your points to contradict mine doesnt really apply here.

also, why should I change my element to 'Telepathy' or 'Physhics' even if i do get more powers on the account of a mask that wont even be in my story?

I tell you, i would sooner leave C.I.R.C.L.E and write my epic independently without the help or ideas from this group than actually change something that is a big part in my epic

Unless he had lost his mask and the Cryalis was the only mask nearby, a Toa of Rahi Control would not wear it for it power. That is about the only storyline reason why he would wear it. It is still useful.

The way I come to my decision is I ask myself, "Will this Article affect my storyline?" Since it won't, I voted "AYE". That's what I don't understand. You're obviously not going to use it, so why are you against it?

Futhermore, I am NOT against the idea behind the C.I.R.C.L.E. Elements and do not wish that any member leave.

Based upon the previous outcome of Article 6 I try to think on a broader scale than my own storyline and ask, "Does this make sense in terms of being feasible in the canon storyline, as well as our fan fiction?" And in this case, if the mask power it won't work for all beings capable of using Kanohi, then I don't see it being appropriate for the viable "C.I.R.C.L.E. Universe" I hope we're all striving to create. Also, if I don't feel that a proposal directly affects my storyline then personally I abstain from voting on it and remain undecided, as long as the necessary number of votes have been cast by other members.

Anyway, if RingMaster Zee (or any other member) wishes to revise Article 42 and seek another vote, then we'll readdress the issue again at that future point in time.
