Read The Color of Magic. Great book.

It's probably a mix of too depressing or too confronting. But he's certainly one of my favourite authors, although I need to read some of his other stuff that's not Animal Farm or 1984. Love the themes.

Down and Out in Paris and London (by Orwell) is a good semi-autobiographical book, basically talking about the tough life in London and Paris in the early-mid 20th Century. Certainly very interesting. I also recommend anything done by John Steinbeck, particularly Grapes of Wrath and Travels with Charley.

I adooooooore Animal Farm. It's probably my favorite book.

It's also one of the few books I've read twice. Heh... heh...

Of course, both times were for school....

Suggestion on further reads? Although I haven't finished it yet, The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand is pretty good and you might like it. Also Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett. Or The Stranger by Albert Camus. Or possibly Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk.
