Mass Effect 2

Okay, I'm not very far yet. Only visited Omega so far.

And my mind is already blown.

Apparently, the DJ of club Afterlife is fond of 1990s Earth gaming music.

Because the music you hear when going through the main entrance, is a song called "Callista", which was composed by Saki Kaskas for the 1999 game Need for Speed: High Stakes/Road Challenge.

MIND = BLOWN (again)

I was thinking about buying it... however, I haven't played the first ME, and I heard this game isn't as enjoyable if one isn't familiar with the characters' backstory.... what do you think, Val?

While I have played the first game (and read both books), I have to say that while there are plenty of references to them, the game can be played very nicely without having played the first game (or without having read the books).

Besides, there are many Codex entries to be unlocked to bring you up to speed. :D

I've never read the codex now that you mention it o.O

But yes, right at the start of the game my mind was blown to a whole new level.

It's basically like if you only wanted to see The Two Towers instead of watching The Fellowship of the Ring first. You kinda have an idea of what is happening at the beginning of the second movie (BioWare does a good job of summing it up), but you don't really have as much of an emotional investment in some of the characters and the Shepard you could've home grown throughout the first game.

That said, I highly recommend you play the first one. You could probably find it used for very cheap, and I believe its either $20 or $30 new because its an Xbox360 Platinum Hits title now.

But Valenti...you just wait, man. :P You're mind will continuously be blown throughout the course of the game.

Play the first one if only because it's also totally awesome.

And yeah, Mass Effect 2 is, so far, blowing my mind. I just got off Horizon and had an awkward time with Kaidan. Which was erm, fun.

I find them to be quite enlightening. :D

Jack's introduction did just that. Again. :P

I'm on Horizon right now. I have yet to meet up with Kaidan. :P
