The nice thing about working on a soundtrack for an indie production that's in the same genre you're working in is that if the guy you're composing for doesn't like a song, boom, you've got another one ready for an album, give or take some lyrics if it needs them for the transition.

I want your opinions between two sets of lyrics. The melody, arrangement, instrumentation, progression, all that are the same for both the only thing that's different are the words, so I want some help based on their poetic, narrative, and lyrical merit. Both don't have a spoken chorus, they're just three verses. The main difference, like I said, is just the words to convey the plot. For some context, the character who's supposed to be singing it just had his planet destroyed and is trying to uneasily come to terms with where to go from here and what happened. While there are references to generic religion, it's simply a plot tool and to help establish the character in the overall plot of the rock opera, not anti-/pro-religion, the message of neither lyric is religious in nature. This is more to help establish the way the character is feeling and the character's manner. Set #1: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «Silently open my prayerbook to passage nine, Reading the words as they are along the lines. Oh, what shall I do? Throw my lot in with this motley crew? The last from a dead world, the last of my race, Floating around somewhere in time and in space, Watching the starry sea, Hopelessly viewing them stare back at me. No choice but to go, I'll travel along, see what fate shows, Traveling on this path of mine, Unfamiliar destinations, sending chills down my spine. Set #2: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «Lost out in space, It's only just begun, Take out my prayerbook, Open to page one. Recite the hymns of my fathers, For my home surely gone, Is this just a horrid dream, Or must I carry on? What will happen to me here? Will I live or die? Whatever the chances, I know I must try. Remember, music, melody, everything's the same. It's just which is better to convey the character's helpless, fish-out-of-water feeling.

New bar for what I want to do live. Awesome night, even the opener was good. ^^ Expect a review of their most recent album, since they deserve the promotion and it's good and other stuff.

Been running on four hours sleep for about twelve hours now. Spent the last four or five getting in rhythm with a new band I'm hoping will stay together and carrying heavy audio equipment up and down stairs. So tired. But I can't sleep because we have a show on the Monday after next, and I need to compose three pieces for it, and we have to get it down in basically one week. Oh, and by one week, I mean one week if I finish all three tonight and they all listen to it tonight. Also, since most of the band, myself included, have finals this week, we'll probably only have one rehearsal before the dress rehearsal, if that, to get it down with each other. To make it worse the other guitarist has a really weird style. MUST SLEEP BUT I CANNOT

Looking for someone who can give a decent voiceacting job to play the "role" of "The Captain" on the Rock Opera I'm working on. Preferably someone who can either give something good along the lines of the Doctor from Doctor Who(Tom Baker, David Tennant, or Matt Smith. Any of those three's voices will fit the role, the rest aren't quite right), or, if you're feeling risky, Christopher Lee. PM me for more details if you're interested. First come, first serve, if someone else comes along earlier who can do a good enough job, then they've got the spot. You'll get a full credit for the role in the "liner notes" for the release.

>Write rock song in 3/4. >Garageband's drums are all in 4/4 >Rearrange song for strings and a synth, with guitar at the end for effect to try before scrapping it >It actually works better thematically.

Alright, I'm actually making some headway into new material! Let's keep this up while I'm on a roll! *Opens "idea book"(A little book I keep to write down any musical, story, poetic, lyrical, bloggable, patentable-and-marketable, etc. ideas) to opening song after overture* ...What was the rhythm for this again? Oh wait, I wrote it down on the last page of the lyrics. Get a BPM calculator and learn to count out the time signature kids, it can save your ideas from destruction.

Finally got some headway on the opening piece for the next album. I've got plenty of stuff written for later parts, but the overture's had me stuck for months. Finally moving somewhere. Programming a digital orchestra, even though at biggest it'd probably take a small, 20-30-piece orchestra to play this properly, is a lot harder than it seems. On that note, my respect for orchestral composers has gone up a lot.

Good god, my voice hurts just trying to whisper way up on this guy's lowest note. Singers like him simultaneously terrify and amaze me.

Click I was rather proud of that at the time..I don't know exactly when the idea came to mind, but I really wanted to draw a mouse holding a balloon. Just got around to it yesterday. Drew it on paper, traced it and did all the shading and things in Adobe Flash. I'm not exactly sure what the "good society" is - I think it's something about society being able to achieve everything to the fullest of everyone's ability. Sounded like an interesting subject, anyway, so I named a song I wrote the other day after it. And I decided to name this drawing after the song. Here's the original drawing on paper, if you'd like to see it.

I watched this Broadway musical today for an English class trip, and it was just amazing. It may not be for all ages, but what the show had to say about the truth and the consequences of lying is simple yet sticks with you long after the show is over. The ending was spectacular and sudden as well. Overall, it lived up to the few reviews I've read of it. I'd go into what detail I can about the show, but sadly I have some other writing to do. The theater was pretty, though. :3

Right, so, I couldn't fall asleep last night. My brain wouldn't shut up. So as I lay there in torture, this brilliant idea form in my head: I should make an album. And so I have begun the process. One of my friends at school wants to help with it any way he can, so I'm gonna' see if he can do keyboards and backup vocals. I'll play Guitar, Bass, and I'll sing. I'll also play a sad substitute for drums: a rock band kit. Yes, I know, it's stupid, but it makes a fairly decent "bang bang" sound, and I tested it, and it works alright. I'm gonna' try and borrow my other friend's bass, or if he won't let me, get him to lay down the bass lines. I can easily get hold of a keyboard off my dad's friend, so I think I'm set. And my Mac just got repaired and cleaned out, so it's running pretty great right now. And I made the artwork today and printed it out to make a nice CD case for when it's done. Front Cover Back Cover and Spines So yeah. I'm hoping it won't fall through like my other projects, but I'm gonna' try my best to get it done. I think my relatives would like it. I'm gonna' put it up for download too, if any of you guys want to listen to it. I obviously can't charge for songs that aren't mine, so it's free. =P Wish me luck.

One of the most epic things I've heard in my life.
-
I want to know which you guys'd rather hear. Would you rather hear a rock opera with a multi-album storyline for the next album, or a regular album with a concept behind it and a little conceptual work in the song flow?
-
Just got back from a great concert, after which I got to have one of my heroes sign a bunch of stuff for me and got a picture with him. Life is good.
-
There's honestly something wrong with you if you don't have this album. It's still a rock staple and its cover is still a pop culture icon up with Abbey Road in terms of album covers for a reason - It kicks freaking ***.

First person to tell me what the song playing in this flash animation(Completely clean, no worries) wins a cookie.

In order to fulfill my creative endeavors, I must spend this new decade in the Grand Canyon with nothing but instruments, so the space particles can smack me, so I can create their concepts, so I may become the greatest and most successful idea guy ever.

Writers, give me advice on how to make an overall narrative between chapters. Poets, give me advice for turning idea in my head into rhyming poetry/lyrics/stuff of that nature.
